Jordi is a determined and resilient individual, determined to build a positive future for herself.

Following some difficult experiences at secondary school, Jordi decided to step away from traditional school. Ready to make a fresh start, she began her next chapter at Chisholm, enrolling in Year 10 General Education. The program gave her strong foundations in learning, helping her feel confident to take the next step in her education into the VCE VM.

As part of the VCE VM program, Jordi decided to challenge herself by stepping into an unfamiliar field. She enrolled in the Certificate II in Electrotechnology, and discovered she had a natural technical ability, reflected in her strong academic results.

For two years, Jordi was the only female student in her class. With strong interpersonal skills and a calm, confident approach, she quickly became a student leader. She managed project deadlines, supported classmates and set a positive example for others. She was also a vocal advocate for workplace safety, ensuring her learning environment remained professional and inclusive.

Jordi feels that studying at Chisholm changed her life for the better. Before enrolling, she felt disengaged from school. But the hands‑on, supportive TAFE environment helped her build confidence and experience success in education that she once thought was beyond her reach.

Outside the classroom, Jordi demonstrated exceptional character through her involvement in the intergenerational community project Songs For You. She was paired with an older teammate who sadly passed away during the project. Jordi showed compassion and determination by completing the task in his honour. She consistently displayed sincerity and generosity, often offering technical help to her community.

Jordi doesn’t take her experience at Chisholm for granted: “I would never take anything back from the experience I've had with Chisholm, it’s opened my eyes up to a lot of different opportunities”.

Jordi is now seeking a job or apprenticeship in refrigeration, air conditioning or elevator services.

In 2025, Jordi was nominated for the Peninsula Applied Learning Excellence Award and is a finalist in the 2026 Chisholm Education Awards – Secondary Student of the Year.
