After a school hospitality course sparked her interest, Amy enrolled in Certificate II in Hospitality.
At Chisholm, she transformed from a shy student, anxious when interacting with customers, into a confident leader who managed events.
During her studies, Amy’s teachers praised her ability to remain calm under the high-pressure environment of a busy service while maintaining high standards in presentation and cleanliness – skills integral to hospitality.
Given the opportunity to be the floor manager for Chisholm’s Christmas in July function, Amy showed maturity beyond her years, successfully navigating the complexities of managing a team and a successful event service.
At work, Amy is known for her initiative, often sharing ideas for improvements to equipment and processes. She consistently presents herself with a warm, polite and attentive attitude, ensuring that customers feel welcomed and valued.
Her achievements were further recognised when she was named the winner of the FMPLLEN Applied Learning Excellence Award.
Having found her flair for hospitality at school, Amy enrolled in the Certificate III in Hospitality. She is passionate about sustainability in hospitality, focusing on coffee waste and recycling. Looking ahead, she plans to take her Responsible Service of Alcohol and enter the wine industry.
Amy’s self-sufficiency and dedication have helped her to recognise the adaptability of her skills in a variety of workplaces. Her advice to other students - “Ask questions, be open, and absorb everything”.
Congratulations, Amy, for being Chisholm’s 2026 Secondary Student of the Year.
