Chisholm Online offers a range of courses delivered online. We are committed to providing a high quality learning experience for students and these online service standards explain our commitment.

Student support  

Chisholm Online provides the following support to help you with your study:


As a Chisholm Online student, you will regularly engage with your teachers through messages in Moodle, group discussion boards and weekly live webinars.

The teacher will respond to your queries within two business days. Assessments submitted on time will be marked and returned within one week of the due date.

Additional help from the student engagement team

Help by phone or email is available from the student engagement team seven days per week:

  • Monday to Friday (9am-7pm)
  • Weekends (excluding public holidays) (1pm-5pm)

The team will reply to phone calls during opening hours immediately and to emails within two business days. You can reach the student engagement team on 1300 275 265 or email

IT support

Students can phone the student engagement team on 1300 275 265 during opening hours to help resolve most IT issues. For more technical issues, they will coordinate further support from the Chisholm IT help desk.

Support services

As a Chisholm Online student, you have access to the same support services as on-campus students.

You can access all five campus libraries as well as counselling services, learning skills help desks, Studiosity (free online tutor support) and many other support services.

Student entry requirements and induction

Digital literacy

As part of the Pre-Training Review, we will assess your level of digital literacy by:

  • Asking you to undertake a self-assessment quiz.
  • Discussing the quiz outcomes with you.
  • Making recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you as well as identifying areas that require additional support.


You will access your learning materials using the Moodle learning management system. The following are the minimum information technology requirements for you to access your course materials:

  • A desktop or laptop computer (with 8GB memory and 1.8Ghz processor), however many aspects of the course can be accessed via smartphone or tablet.
  • Microsoft Office 2003 or later.
  • A reliable internet connection with the latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari. Students experiencing poor internet connections may choose to attend a Chisholm campus where free wifi is available as well as access to computers.  

Please note: Bookkeeping and accounting students will need access to a PC to engage with MYOB learning software and materials.

Student engagement

Chisholm Online provides collaborative learning opportunities that enables you to interact and engage with your peers and teacher through group discussion forums, online messaging and live webinars.

Ongoing feedback will be provided as you study through:

  • Interaction with teachers in webinars, discussion forums and online messaging.
  • Detailed feedback on your assessments.

The Student Engagement Team is there to help. As a leading education provider, we monitor your participation to help you keep on track. We will check to see how you are going within two weeks of your start date and contact you by email, phone or SMS if it looks like you need some help.

Students who haven’t participated within five weeks of the module start date will be deemed to have stopped studying and may be withdrawn from the course.

Mode and method of assessment 

A minimum of two forms of assessment will be used for each unit of competency. 

Forms of assessment will vary per course, but will include a combination of the following:

  • Observation
  • Knowledge questions
  • Presentations
  • Projects
  • Evidence portfolios
  • Reports or case studies
  • Demonstration of practical skills

Where students are asked to demonstrate competency in practical skills, video technology may be used.

All trainers and assessors delivering online courses at Chisholm Online undertake professional development in online delivery, as well as formal current teaching qualifications and current industry experience in their field of expertise. We take advantage of the latest teaching technologies and best practice teaching methodologies to bring you up to date and engaging learning wherever and whenever you want it.
