Withdrawal and refund information for domestic students (excluding short course programs)
This information applies to any student who has withdrawn from a course of study or intends to withdraw.
- 100% refund of all fees if Chisholm cancels your course. Course cancellation does not include circumstances where a course is superseded on the national register (training.gov.au) and a student is offered enrolment in a replacement/superseding course.
- You will receive a refund of tuition and student services fees paid less an administration fee of $20 for non-VET Student Loans/FEE-HELP eligible courses if you lodge a withdrawal/refund application within 28 days from the first commencement in the course for the year (or, in the case where you never commenced, within 28 days of your expected commencement date). Where you have a Debit Success payment plan and you lodge a withdrawal/refund application within the 28-day refund period, it will be adjusted accordingly but you will remain liable for all costs associated with establishing and maintaining your debt up until your withdrawal date.
- You will receive a 100% refund of the tuition fees if you lodge a withdrawal/refund application for a VET Student Loans/FEE-HELP eligible unit of study on or before your Census Date for that unit.
- You will only receive a refund of student services fees paid if you lodge a withdrawal/refund application within 28 days of commencing your course for the year.
- There are no refunds associated with material fees if you withdraw after 28 days from the first commencement in the course for the year (or in the case where a student never commenced, within 28 days of your expected commencement date) where you have used or been issued the materials.
- Where employers have paid fees for an apprentice/trainee or employee, a request for refund can be sent directly to the Academic Registrar (registrar@chisholm.edu.au) and will be managed on a case-by-case basis.
- You will not be eligible for refunds of tuition fees for units where you have received a final result. The exception to this are withdrawals on or prior to the census date for VET Student Loan/FEE-HELP eligible units of study.
- Eligible refunds will be made to the payer of the fees in the form of an EFT payment to a bank account.
- Where you have been prevented from lodging a withdrawal application form within 28 days of your commencement in the course for the year (or, in the case where you have never commenced, within 28 days of your expected commencement date) and the course is not eligible for a VET Student Loan or FEE-HELP, you may apply for special consideration of a refund due to exceptional circumstances. An application for special consideration must include independent evidence of the exceptional circumstances. For example, a medical condition may have worsened making it impractical to continue studying, and you have evidence of those circumstances from your treating medical practitioner. The written application must include details of how the special circumstances were: beyond your control; and did not make their full impact until on, or after, the 28-day refund period; and made it impracticable for you to complete the requirements of the course. The application must be sent to either: email – academicadmin@chisholm.edu.au; or postage mail to - Academic Registrar, Academic Administration, Chisholm Institute, PO Box 684, Dandenong, 3175.
