Parking on campus

Parking is free of charge for cars and motorbikes at Chisholm campuses, with racks available for bicycles.

You will need to register for a virtual parking permit with vPermit. Infringements will be issued if parked inappropriately, or without an ‘active’ registered vehicle.

Apply for a parking permit

Students and staff can register up to three vehicles in vPermit. Only one vehicle must be marked ‘active’ at a time. The system uses license plate recognition to confirm parking eligibility.

Register your vehicle

Please park vehicles in marked bays in accordance with campus signage. Ensure motorbikes are parked safely and do not obstruct pathways or building access. Any vehicles parked outside of designated bays or causing safety and access concerns will result in infringement notices being issued.

How to avoid a parking infringement notice

• Park within the marked bays
• Do not obstruct any driveways or crossovers, or footpaths.
• Do not park on a verge e.g. curb, landscaping, grass areas
• Always check the parking signage when you park.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Do I have to pay for parking at Chisholm?

  Chisholm staff, students, visitors and contractors do not have to pay for parking.

  All Chisholm staff and students must have a valid parking permit to park on campus.

• Why do I need a parking permit?

  Parking permits ensure that only Chisholm staff, students, contractors and visitors are parking on campus, which increases the number of available parking spaces.

• How do I get a vPermit?

  Staff and students must register for a virtual permit vPermit Account Log in

• Is there parking for people with disabilities?

  All campuses have a limited number of accessibility bays. To use an accessible bay a valid accessibility parking permit must be clearly displayed. Accessibility parking permits are administered by your local council, not Chisholm Institute.

  If you choose to park in a general parking area, you must have a current Chisholm vPermit and activate the correct vehicle.

• Can I use my permit at another campus?

  Yes, all permits can be used at all campuses. Please register for the campus that you park at most often.

• Where can I park?

  Parking is available at all Chisholm campuses.
  Please refer to the map of your campus.

• How do I add another vehicle to my permit?

  You can register up to three vehicles; only one vehicle may be "active" at a time.
  
  The active vehicle is the vehicle you are driving and parking that day. If you change vehicles, you must change the active vehicle.

  To add another vehicle, or update your registration:

  1. Log into vPermit via the website.
  2. Select “Manage Vehicles”
  3. Update details as required. Select "Save Vehicle(s)"
  4. Make sure the correct registration is highlighted green as “active” before exiting

• Will I get a fine if I don’t activate the correct vehicle?

  Yes.

  You can register up to three vehicles, only one vehicle may be "active" at a time.
  
  The active vehicle is the vehicle you are driving and parking that day.

  If you change vehicles, you must change the active vehicle.

• I have a motorcycle, do I need to park in allocated parking bays?

  Yes. You will receive a parking infringement if you are not parked in allocated parking spaces. Please check all signage when parking your vehicle on campus.

• I have a visitor coming to campus on Chisholm business, how do they get a visitor permit?

  Staff can issue a visitor parking permit to visitors, contractors and suppliers that are attending campus on Chisholm business and need to park, note:

  • Permits can be issued for one day at a time
  • You will need the vehicle registration to issue a parking permit
  • Visitor permits per day passes are called “Scratchies” in the vPermit system

• How much is a fine if I don’t comply with the parking requirements on Chisholm campuses?

  The following infringement notices are applicable if you do not have your vehicle registered with vPermit and marked as ‘active’, or if you commit any of the following parking offences.

• Will there be a warning issued for first parking infringement?

  No. Enforcement of infringements will begin 1 February 2026.

• I received a fine. My car is registered in the platform, but I forgot to change it to the ‘active’ vehicle. Who can I talk to about that?

  The person served with the infringement notice may apply to have the decision to serve the infringement notice reviewed by the enforcement agency under the Fines Reform Act 2014. All requests for internal review must be in writing, provide full particulars, including your name and address, and sent to:

• I am a staff member and I use my security pass to enter the staff only car park, behind boom gates, at Chisholm. Do I still need to register for a parking permit?

  Yes. All staff require a parking permit to park on campus, regardless of which parking lot you park in.

• How long will my parking permit stay ‘active’?

  Your virtual Chisholm parking permit is an annual permit, that will be live until the end of this year. You will need to re-register your vehicle/s to park on campus the following year.

• I am not a student or staff member and need to visit a Chisholm campus. Do I need a permit or ticket?

  Once you have parked your vehicle on campus, please visit the Student Enquiry and Enrolment Services (SEES) office.

  When you obtain a ticket for the SEES waiting line, the system will also offer you a parking ticket.

  Please print the parking ticket and display it on your car dashboard.
