Charlie’s fascination with computers began as a young boy. He was obsessed with computer games. When he got his first computer, he made it work better and faster, following advice from an expert at a computer shop.

Helping his mother when her small business experienced a cyber attack also fuelled Charlie’s passion to make a difference in the industry. Charlie felt his confidence in his computer skills develop when helping his mother with her computer problems. He was also able to give her advice on her clients’ issues.

Charlie studied a Certificate II in Computer Assembly and Repair while also completing his VCE.

During his studies at Chisholm, Charlie always had a positive attitude and found time to help other students complete their assessments. He would be early to class and rarely missed a day. Charlie always completed his assessments with enthusiasm and scored well above the average grade.

Charlie has a positive mindset and believes, ‘Passion can take you anywhere, as long as it’s somewhere you want to be.’

His next steps include studying a Bachelor of Computer Science, following his acceptance into La Trobe University’s Early Entry Program. This course will help him decide which area to specialise in.

Charlie’s long-term goal is to own a cyber security business. To learn how to set up a successful business, he has also started a course in business management.

Charlie won the 2025 Chisholm Education Awards Secondary Student of the Year.
