After working as a service technician and running his own business, Brad was seeking a change. With extensive industry experience, Brad saw an opportunity to give back to his profession by sharing his knowledge with the next generation. In 2000, Brad started sessional teaching and discovered his love of helping others through education.

As a teacher in Chisholm’s Plumbing department, Brad has discovered great fulfilment in teaching his students and seeing them grow in skill and confidence. He creates an engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Brad develops clear, practical resources that break down complex concepts into easy‑to‑understand lessons. He makes himself available before, during and after class, offering guidance, reassurance and a safe space for students to ask questions. Brad feels he does “better work as a teacher than what I'd do sitting behind the desk”. With many of his students crediting their success to Brad’s clarity, encouragement and unwavering support.

Brad’s passion for education extends well beyond the classroom. He has made substantial contributions to program development, building new systems and creating workbooks that strengthen assessment tasks and improve learning outcomes. His innovative teaching materials have been adopted across teaching teams, helping ensure students of all backgrounds and abilities can succeed. Brad’s willingness to share knowledge and collaborate with colleagues makes him a highly valued member of the department.

Outside work, Brad has volunteered with the CFA for more than 30 years, where he also served as a training instructor - further demonstrating his commitment to education.

Through his dedication to industry‑relevant training, Brad is helping shape the next generation of tradespeople and ensuring they meet the highest professional standards.

Brad is a finalist in the 2026 Chisholm Education Awards – Educator of the Year.
