From her early days of babysitting, Lulu has always known that her future was in childcare. She explored different study options and landed on Chisholm’s earn-and-learn traineeship model for the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Throughout her studies, Lulu showed exceptional dedication, completing her qualification within one year while working full‑time. She was an uplifting presence in the classroom, bringing positive energy, professionalism and a genuine love of caring for kids.
Learning to study at TAFE was a learning curve for Lulu. While she loved the content, independent study was a big adjustment. With the support of her teachers, Lulu found she could thrive in an adult learning environment and was motivated to succeed.
In the workplace, Lulu’s warm nature and strong communication skills help her build strong connections with families and the young children she cares for. Parents at her work regularly ask for her by name, showing the trust and comfort she builds with families. Outside of work, Lulu continues to support her community by babysitting on weekends.
Lulu’s employer commended her dedication to client service and childcare. She was awarded Employee of the Month three times during her first year, reflecting her professionalism.
With her newfound confidence and love of learning, Lulu is progressing her education with the Diploma of Early Childhood Education. She aims to become a centre director, with a long‑term goal of owning an early learning centre where she can mentor and develop future trainees.
Lulu is also a finalist in the 2026 Chisholm Education Awards – Trainee of the Year.
