Stanley began his education journey with engineering in mind, but shifted his perspective towards a more nurturing vocation. Having long been a central source of support within his community, Stanley felt drawn to a career where he could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

This led him to enrol in a Diploma of Community Services. Motivated to do more for his community, Stanley used his advanced standing to progress into the Bachelor of Community Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs. His dedication and people‑centred approach quickly made him a standout student.

In the classroom, Stanley inspired his peers with his inclusive, encouraging nature. He consistently promoted a “have a go” mindset, creating a supportive environment where everyone felt valued. His professionalism, thoughtful communication and strong work ethic earned him consistent praise from teachers.

Stanley’s commitment extended beyond the classroom. Each week, he travelled from Ballarat to Chisholm’s Berwick campus to earn his degree, demonstrating remarkable determination. His academic excellence and sector knowledge also secured him a highly competitive placement with Community Correction Services in Ballarat.

In 2025, Stanley was deeply honoured to solely represent Chisholm at the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (Kenya) and the Australian High Commission in Kenya.

He continues to give back to his community by volunteering as a Sunday school teacher. While Stanley finds it difficult to be separated from his family in Kenya, he remains committed to uplifting his Australian community and raising awareness about mental health.

Stanley is a finalist in the 2026 Chisholm Education Awards – Higher Education Student of the Year.
