Immerse yourself in design and develop graphic design skills with this focussed foundational course. You will learn a broad range of graphic design techniques across a range of industry standard software. You will develop your skills and your portfolio which will allow you to launch your emerging career or continue your studies with a smooth pathway into our Diploma of Graphic Design CUA50720 to extend your skills and knowledge.

You will know how to take design briefs from concept through to production according to industry standards while learning practical skills in photo imaging, design layout and typography using both traditional and digital mediums and techniques.

As a Certificate IV in Design graduate, your strong foundations in both technical and conceptual requirements will allow you to problem solve design solutions using design thinking and develop an extensive creative portfolio of work.

You will develop creative skills and your design portfolio, through a hybrid model of learning both online and in our studios using the latest design software.

You have the option of an elective focus in graphic design or a content creative elective which is a combination of design photography, videography and content.

Graphic design elective focus

Your studies will be practical and hands-on, allowing you to develop a strong foundation in various design skills, including drawing, typography, graphic design, 2D and 3D processes, concept development, illustration, digital imaging, colour theory, design history and industry knowledge.

Studying individually and in groups, you’ll learn on state-of-the-art equipment using the latest computer design programs including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. This elective focus is 6 months.

Content creation elective focus

The content creation elective focus has an emphasis on photography, videography, social media and foundational design skills. You will develop a well-rounded design portfolio to craft your own creative future. This elective focus is 12 months.

Start date: 14th February 2023

An interview is required for entry into this course.
