Lay the foundations for a career in building and construction
The building and construction industry supports our infrastructure and housing. It shapes communities and promotes economic growth. On successful completion of the Certificate II in Building and Construction (Carpentry) pre-apprenticeship, you'll have the basic skills and knowledge to work in labourer roles on construction and building sites.
The Certificate II in Building and Construction (Carpentry) pre-apprenticeship course will give you a strong foundation before starting a trade apprenticeship and help you decide if carpentry is right for you. The qualification can also help you stand out to employers and show your commitment to a career as a carpenter or builder.
You'll learn in our state-of-the-art, multi-trade workshops. You'll gain skills in using materials, tools, equipment, and techniques that form the basis of building and construction. You'll also learn to take measurements and calculations, communicate in the workplace and ensure onsite workplace safety.
If you gain an apprenticeship after successfully completing this course, you may be able to receive credit for some of the units. This may shorten the duration of your apprenticeship
This course is also suitable for those who want to learn basic carpentry and building skills for personal projects.
Please note: Students may be required to undertake an assessment of their literacy and numeracy as part of their application process.
