Ministerial Visit Marks Official Opening of Frankston Tech School

Wednesday 17 September marked a major milestone for education in Frankston, with the Hon. Ben Carroll, Acting Premier and Minister for Education, officially opening the Frankston Tech School.

This state-of-the-art facility represents a $12 million investment in the future of STEM education, offering free, immersive, and hands-on experiences for secondary students across the local government area.

Purpose-built to inspire innovation, the Tech School features a fully enclosed space of nearly 1000 square metres. The facility will deliver high-tech programs that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for the jobs of tomorrow.

Department of Education construction site visit

May, 2025

Chisholm welcomed Paul Edbrooke MP, representing the Victorian Minister for Education, to the Frankston campus for a site visit of the future Frankston Tech School. During the visit, Chisholm presented the facility’s architectural design and visual renders, ahead of its scheduled opening later this year, and provided an overview of the initial program offerings.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the Minister’s representative to meet with Chisholm leadership, the Frankston Tech School team, and key partners to discuss the collaborative approach to both the design of the facility and the development of its educational programs.

Construction 50% complete

April, 2025

Construction of the Frankston Tech School is now 50% complete, with the project progressing on an accelerated timeline. With the erection of 67 tonnes of steel, the facility remains on track for opening in mid-September 2025.

Foundation poured

March, 2025

The foundation being poured during March achieved a major milestone in the Frankston Tech School build. With the agreeable weather conditions, 418 cubic metres of concrete was poured over two days as scheduled.

Demolition

January, 2025

Demolition of building M and N commenced in September 2024 and is due for completion in January 2025. Building works will start once the site has been handed over to the builders, Alchemy Construct Pty Ltd, who will be taking on the building and construction of the Frankston Tech School.

Sustainability and the environment have been a key focus for the design team. Chisholm has worked collaboratively with Prime Build to recycle as many materials as possible during the demolition process.

Secondary students soon to occupy our Dandenong tech school

August, 2024

Chisholm has been selected by the Victorian Government to host the new Frankston Tech School, with the project commencing in August 2024. Victoria’s Tech Schools provide high-tech, hands-on STEAM programs to secondary school students in the local area. Programs offered at Tech Schools are centred around the priorities and needs of the local community.
