Electric Vehicle Accreditation for Licensed Vehicle Testers (LVTs)

Licensed Vehicle Testers (LVTs) who wish to inspect electric and hybrid vehicles for Roadworthy Certificates (RWCs) must now hold electric vehicle (EV) accreditation.

This short course is designed for LVTs seeking the EV category accreditation required to inspect battery-electric and hybrid vehicles for roadworthy certification.

The course covers:
• The scope and limitations of EV accreditation.
• Vehicle types included under the EV category.
• EV inspection and testing requirements.
• Safety procedures for working around high-voltage systems.
• Equipment and premises requirements for compliance.
• Common hazards, including electric shock, fire, thermal runaway, and environmental risks.
• Risk management and safe inspection practices.

Important: This course does not permit the repair or modification of EV components. Accreditation is limited to inspection and testing activities within your existing licence category.

The fee for this course is $455.

ELIGILITY REQUIREMENTS
You must
• hold a current Light vehicle roadworthy tester license
• have successfully completed one of the below units:
Depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles (AURETH001, AURETH011 or AURETH101).

COURSE DELIVERY
This is an online course that can be completed at your own pace.

After enrolment, you will receive an email with instructions for accessing the online learning materials and activities.

ASSESSMENT
Please allow approximately one hour to complete the final quiz.

Before your final assessment, you will be required provide and validate:
• Your identity via photo identification (driver’s license or similar).
• Your current LVT ID card/certificate of license
• And proof of successful completion of the Depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles unit.
