Entry Requirements
To enrol in this course, participants must hold:
A current licence or registration with the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) for Water Supply Work.
External Examination and Licence Endorsement
The Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) will attend on the final day of training to conduct the external examination for participants seeking endorsement in backflow prevention as a specialised class of plumbing. The examination is conducted over approximately four hours and provides eligible participants with the opportunity to progress towards obtaining their backflow prevention endorsement.
Course Outcome
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to test, commission and maintain backflow prevention devices in water services. In some jurisdictions, the unit may form part of accreditation, licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements.
Successful completion of the training, combined with meeting applicable regulatory requirements and successfully completing the BPC external examination, supports participants in obtaining the Restricted Class Licence Endorsement in Backflow Prevention.
