Carry out safe work practices when working on high voltage vehicle systems

Learning outcomes for the course includes:

• carrying out the safe work practices when working on high voltage systems.
• the correct use of specialist tools and equipment
• an overview of HEV components and their functions
• the correct procedure to safely disarm and rearm HEV
• how to check if the HEV is safe to work on.

This course is intended for those who wish to safely prepare an electric vehicle before beginning work on them.It is suited to people with an automotive background with an understanding of basic electrical principles that are requiring the skills and knowledge in high voltage safety awareness for automotive workplace and onsite applications. This may include:

• technicians
• automotive electricians
• parts recyclers
• paint smash repairs
• emergency response members.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following unit: AURETH101 Depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles.

Participants will receive insulating gloves, which meet the requirements of AS/ICE 60903 to work on HEV - vehicle systems.

Light lunch will be provided.

Note: As per AS5732:2022 “Any persons with a pacemaker or medical device susceptible to magnetic interference are not allowed to perform work on PEVs, HEVs, BEVs, PHEVs or FCEVs that contain powerful magnets capable of affecting those devices.”
