  You’ll learn practical skills in areas such as first aid; work health and safety (WHS) processes; effective interaction with children; nutritional food provision; childhood development; sustainable practices; appropriate care for babies and children up to 5 years; and responding to young people at risk.
  
  This nationally recognised qualification may lead to employment in roles such as kindergarten assistant, school aged-care assistant, nanny, family day care carer or early childhood educator.
  
  Once successfully completed, you can extend your skills by studying Chisholm’s Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, this can also be undertaken as a traineeship.

• Admission requirements

  All applicants are required to attend an interview, Applicants must complete the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) assessment and achieve an outcome of ACSF exit level 2 - working level 3 for literacy and numeracy., Be physically and mentally capable of engaging professionally with children, families, and colleagues for approximately 7.5 hours x 9 days per fortnight, Be physically capable of sustaining CPR for at least two (2) minutes on the floor to successfully complete the requirements of the course, Parental agreement for students under 18 years of age required, Please note: All students need to be able to obtain a volunteer Working With Children Check prior to undertaking work placement., Students who are aged under 17 years require a completed Transition from School form from their school, trainees must have a Registered Training Agreement with their employer.

  Annual scholarships may be available to eligible students suffering financial hardship through the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation.
