Be recognised as an innovative change maker and drive gender equity in the workplace
The Course in Gender Equity is Australia’s first accredited gender equity qualification.
This course will equip learners with the knowledge and skills to engage in gender equity work and identify and address gender equality issues in the workplace.
The course includes units to establish a strong conceptual understanding of gender equitable practice; therefore, it is aimed at people with an entry-level working knowledge of gender.
The aim of the course is to develop the knowledge and skills of workers required to understand, support and apply gender equity within public, private and community workplaces across a range of industries and sectors. Gender equity worker roles span a range of levels of autonomy and responsibility and include gender equity specialists and those who practice gender equity in their work. The course is also designed for organisations who have responsibilities for gender action outlined in the Gender Equality Act 2020 and under the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012.
As students will work with vulnerable clients, applicants are required to demonstrate good communication skills and present with a calm and engaging demeanour.
The course includes discussions regarding family violence, some students may find exposure to the content distressing and may possibly find these trigger past traumatic events for the student. If this is a possibility, students should consider putting additional supports in place prior to commencing the course.
The course is delivered online, consisting of evening classes via Zoom on Monday evenings 6pm - 9pm and online self-directed learning.
