This skill set equips you with the skills and knowledge required to conduct assessments and operate independently in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, aligning with the Standards for RTOs. It’s designed to ensure you have the expertise to confidently deliver high-quality assessments in a compliant and effective manner.

The skill set includes three clustered units, offering a comprehensive learning experience with six targeted assessment tasks.

Units Covered:
• TAEASS412: Assess competence
• TAEASS413: Participate in assessment validation
• TAEDES411: Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs.

Assessment tasks:
1. Knowledge questions – Demonstrate understanding of core concepts.
2. Package an AQF qualification – Tailor a qualification to meet identified needs.
3. Participate in pre-assessment validation – Complete three pre-assessment validation sessions.
4. Assess competence – Conduct four competency assessments.
5. Assess competence (RPL) – Conduct two recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessments.
6. Participate in assessment validation – Engage in three post-assessment validation sessions.

This skill set is suitable for individuals seeking to develop the skills and knowledge required to plan, conduct and validate competency based assessments within the vocational education and training (VET) sector. It may be undertaken by those who wish to build their assessment capability, including industry professionals, subject matter experts and individuals seeking to undertake assessment-related responsibilities.

For qualified secondary school teachers, successfully completing the TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set (or an approved equivalent/successor), together with a recognised secondary teaching qualification, enables them to independently deliver and assess vocational education and training (VET) programs, including VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS), without direct supervision.
