Selection Process at Chisholm

The steps of the recruitment process at Chisholm include but are not limited to:

Job application

Look out for our job advertisements with detailed information, including a link to the position description, position contact person, and closing date.

Selection process

Our selection panel reviews applications, conducts interviews (possibly a second round), and screens candidates for eligibility and safety.

Candidate eligibility and safety screening

Includes reference checks, verification of eligibility documents, and specific checks like police checks, Working with Children Check, and more, depending on the position.

Job Offer

Successful candidates receive a formal offer. Unsuccessful applicants are notified via email.

The interview process

All advertised positions require an interview, usually lasting 45 minutes to one hour. Questions asked by the panellists relate to the role, and you'll have a chance to ask questions. Any required tests or assessments will be communicated in advance.

At the conclusion of the interview process  you will be contacted by email or phone about the outcome of your interview.

Employment Eligibility and Safety Screening

Applicants must meet the following criteria before a formal job offer is made

Reference Checks

Chisholm completes reference checks using an online service that requires candidates to submit up to 3 referees’ details for them to respond to.

Chisholm will not contact referees without confirming with you prior to contacting them through any communication channel. 

Right to work in Australia

Offers of Employment will be subject to verification of citizenship, immigration status and consequent entitlement to work legally in Australia through Chisholm’s Online Verification Portal.

 Applicants must be permitted to work in Australia on an unrestricted basis

Working with Children Check

Committed to being a Childsafe Organisation, either a valid Employee Working with Children Check or evidence of exemption is required.

VIT Registration Check

For teachers registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), proof of registration is needed.

Certified Copies of Qualifications

Applicants must provide copies of qualifications for verification through Chisholm’s Online Verification Portal.

Police Check

Chisholm requires police checks for specific positions and will advise when required.  

Qualifications, Licences and Memberships

Applicants must provide copies of all Qualification Certificates and Transcripts, Statements of Completed Units, Licences & Professional Memberships listed in their resume for verification through Chisholm’s Online Verification Portal.

Teaching Roles at Chisholm

Evidence of vocational competency, industry experience, and professional teaching currency is required.

Note: For teachers with overseas issued qualifications to be recognised, an Overseas Skills Assessment from Skills Assessment (homeaffairs.gov.au) must be provided by the applicant at their own cost in addition to the above.
