Health and Safety Training
Under the OHS Act 2004 (section 67), all elected HSRs and deputy HSRs are entitled to undertake WorkSafe Victoria-approved HSR Initial OHS Training Course and HSR Refresher OHS training Course and choose their course in consultation with their employer.
This WorkSafe-approved training course will help HSRs to understand and exercise their powers effectively.
HSRs are in a position where they can act on behalf of employees in their designated work group to raise issues that are identified. To do this they require a level of understanding of the subject matter.
This training steps through information on work-related violence to assist in providing that level of understanding to enable the HSR to identify work-related factors that are impacting mental health and safety.
With this knowledge, they can liaise with their designated work group and management to raise issues as they are identified.
The learning objectives of this course include:
• Review of key OHS / HSR Concepts
• Risk Management
• Incident Management
• Managing Incidents of Work-related Violence
• Incident Investigation
Prerequisite: Completion of the HSR Initial OHS Training Course
