Leading education and training provider Chisholm Institute welcomes new study opportunities for students, created by the Victorian Government's Free TAFE Pathways program launched this year.

The initiative aims to further enhance learning and career opportunities for students in Victoria, while also tackling the growing skills shortage in key industries like health and childcare.

The Free TAFE Pathways initiative – part of the Victorian Government’s Free TAFE program – allows students to achieve multiple qualifications in a selected pathway for free. The program is available to students who have first completed a course in a designated Free TAFE Pathway (at Chisholm or an alternate provider) and are now looking to undertake a course in the same industry area.

Chisholm Institute Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Varty, has welcomed the announcement and said that the Free TAFE Pathways initiative will be a game-changer for TAFE students in Melbourne’s south-east.

“We are really excited about the Free TAFE Pathways program. By choosing a pathway, students can benefit from increased flexibility when undertaking multiple courses and will be better skilled when transitioning into the workforce and gaining employment.

Mr Varty continued, "The Free TAFE Pathways program highlights the important function of training providers like Chisholm in supporting industries with a shortage of skilled workers. With so many industries to choose from and no ATAR required, learning has never been more cost-effective and accessible for students, and scholarships are available to support eligible students with the cost of materials.

As part of the Free TAFE Pathway program, Chisholm offers courses in the following industry fields:

  • Community Services
  • Nursing and Personal Care
  • Accounting
  • Allied Heath and Nursing
  • Building and Construction
  • Dental
  • Information Technology
  • Education Support
  • Early Childhood

“At Chisholm Institute, we see how TAFE changes lives every day. Our hope is that as many students as possible seize this opportunity to gain the skills they need for a successful career,” Varty said.

A full list of Free TAFE courses are available on our Free TAFE for Priority Courses. Students can also contact Chisholm Institute on 1300 244 746 to discuss their options.
