It is important to note that the new course will require students to have completed the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education prior to enrolling into the Diploma.

Follow your dream and study to become an early childhood centre director or educator, kindergarten educator, family day care carer or nanny.

When you complete the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50113), you’ll have a nationally recognised qualification highly regarded by employers in this sector. You’ll be able to work at a senior level in a variety of children’s services, including designing and developing curriculum and supervision of staff. Throughout the course you’ll learn more about best practice and quality assurance; planning for children with additional needs; networking ; effective communication; family partnerships; childhood development (aesthetic, creative, physical); music program; and health and safety. This course is based on the National Quality Framework and Early Years Framework and has an emphasis on play-based learning.

To complete this qualification you will be required to undertake the following unit of competency HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting This unit is not available online, however Chisholm does offer the unit on campus. Please send a copy of your transcript if you have already successfully completed this unit previously.

Students are required to produce a valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory police check prior to commencement of the course

Practical Placement is a required component of this course and will be scheduled as soon as possible with an appropriate placement host. Given the current environment, however, this may take longer than normal and therefore, expected completion dates for the course may need to be extended to take account of deferred placement.
