Advance your skills to work in the aged care sector

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
You will gain a deep working knowledge of the aged care sector, develop your personal leadership style and get practical work experience in this high growth industry.

Through theoretical and practical course work, you will learn:
• The principles of person-centred care and strengths-based practice
• To advocate for the interests and rights of your clients
• How to coordinate services and interventions
• To deliver care services to palliative clients and clients with dementia
• The foundations of great leadership

This course will offer increased career opportunities in aged and community care in roles such as an aged care team leader, home care support worker, community care worker, aged care worker or home care planner.
A minimum of 120 hours work placement is required to complete this course which will be arranged by Chisholm Institute.
Prior to placement, practical sessions will be conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility at Frankston and Berwick, with simulated hospital rehabilitation and community environments.
