Admission requirements

You must be 18 years old or over.

You will be expected to participate and engage in the practical application of fitness programming and receive prescribed fitness programs from fellow students.

You will need a reasonable level of physical ability to work as a gym instructor so you can set up and move heavy exercise equipment.

Inherent requirements

Physical:
The Certificate III in Fitness requires a fundamental level of physical strength and fitness in order to perform, demonstrate, instruct, and
engage with various exercises, movement patterns and fitness programs. It is expected that all students participate and engage in the practical
application of fitness programming as well as receiving prescribed fitness programs from fellow students throughout the duration of the course.
The role of a gym instructor requires the physical capability to set-up and move heavy exercise equipment.

Cognitive/Emotional:
The course has a mixture of practical and theoretical assessment tasks and there is a considerable amount of stress involved in
managing the workload.

Industry:
Strong oral communication skills are required to have a successful career in the fitness industry.

Language, literacy and numeracy

You are required to complete a language, literacy and numeracy skills test before course commencement. This will determine course suitability and if you may need additional support.

We use an approved online skills review tool to determine your language, literacy and numeracy skills within the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

Practical placement

There are no practical placement requirements for this course.

Simulated work environment

All practical training and assessment is conducted off-site from Infinite Fitness Peninsula (IFP) – 22 Remount way, Cranbourne West. IFP is a
commercial gym setting with all the required facilities, equipment and resources required for the qualification.

Annual scholarships may be available to eligible students suffering financial hardship through the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation.
