If you work in the light vehicle mechanical technology industry and want to gain a formal qualification in the field, this course is for you.
This is an accredited apprenticeship course, which involves a competency-based assessment program that can be undertaken in the workplace, at Chisholm, or a combination of both. When you successfully complete this course, you’ll have the confidence to work on a broad range of light vehicle components and systems.

During the course, you'll learn about workplace safety and equipment and gain hands on experience servicing everything from batteries, transmissions and engines to petrol fuel, air conditioning and braking systems.
INHERENT REQUIREMENTS
Entry requirements for literacy and numeracy range from levels two to three.
Candidates must be able to handle a moderate level of physical lifting and manual dexterity in the production of components when working with electronic equipment.
Experienced teachers, who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program, which involves a combination of practical study and theory that is assessed at the end of each unit of competency.
This nationally recognised qualification may lead to employment in roles such as automotive tradesperson or motor mechanic (light vehicle).
The course can be completed part time over three years, in conjunction with on the job training. A training plan can be negotiated with employers to suit their requirements.

Admission requirements
Apprentices must have a Registered Training Agreement with their employer, It is recommended school leaver students complete the pre-apprenticeship pathway (Certificate II) prior to enrolling, or complete a pre-training assessment for literacy and numeracy of BKSB assessment with an outcome of ACSF exit level 2, working level 3

Payment plans
At Chisholm, you can spread your course costs over the year by making part payments via direct debit on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Payment plans are available for local students enrolling in certificate level courses only. Read more about payment plans.

Chisholm is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and provides Nationally Recognised Training (NRT). This means you can be assured that our training will provide you with a qualification that is recognised and respected across Australia.
Chisholm courses are subject to minimum and maximum group numbers. Courses may be cancelled or postponed if minimum numbers are not achieved by the start date of the course. Courses may close prior to the start date if the maximum numbers are reached. In that situation, eligible applicants will be offered a place in the next available intake.
