Learn the fundamentals of working in a support role within an education setting
If you are inspired to support students with additional learning needs within primary and secondary educational settings, then a Chisholm qualification in School-Based Education Support is right for you.
The Certificate IV in School Based Education Support is a nationally recognised qualification that supports strong foundational skills and knowledge relevant to the student support industry. Successful completion of this qualification will also equip you with specialist understandings in how to support students on the autism spectrum and deepen teaching abilities in literacy and numeracy within educational programs.
This course requires 100 hours practical work placement. Chisholm can assist in organising work placement within schools. If you are currently working or volunteering within an educational service, this setting could be used to achieve placement requirements.
TIMETABLE:
Full time - March / April intake open: Full time 2 days per week delivered remotely via Zoom, enrolment open to cover Berwick, Dandenong, Frankston, Bass Coast and Rosebud locations.
Part Time - Off campus study delivered remotely via Zoom with two evening sessions per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.00pm – 8.00pm. Students may be required to attend campus to collect resources and or take part in practical assessments occasionally, this will be negotiated with students to ensure they are able to attend.
Students are encouraged to attend weekly support classes via Zoom and make use of the online study resources found on our Moodle site.
Early Childhood and School Based Education Support courses have compulsory practical placement requirements.
These placements need to be conducted in the following regions to ensure we can offer adequate support and assessment staff for students undertaking their placements;
-South East Suburbs
-Mornington Peninsula
-Bass Coast
PLACEMENT REQUIREMENT FOR ALL STUDENTS
To successfully complete this course, students are also required to complete a minimum of 100 hours work placement across course duration.

Chisholm courses are subject to minimum and maximum group numbers. Courses may be cancelled or postponed if minimum numbers are not achieved by the start date of the course. Courses may close prior to the start date if the maximum numbers are reached. In that situation, eligible applicants will be offered a place in the next available intake.
