Start a career in sterilisation services by learning the practical skills and knowledge to work in a hospital sterile supply department or theatre sterile supply unit.

The Certificate III in Sterilisation Services will teach you how to:
• Clean and disinfect re-usable medical devices and equipment
• Care for surgical instruments
• Work with infection control policies and procedures
• Work with sterile stock and equipment
• Develop effective working habits and relationships

This course follows a flipped classroom methodology, where students are exposed to learning content online via myChisholm, prior to on campus tutorial to consolidate key concepts.

The classes are a mix of theoretical learning and practical application of skills that they will use in workplace situations once graduated. Classroom learning is supported by online content which the student access via myChisholm, with an expectation that this is completed every week before commencement of lab-based activities.  

The assessment of several units is undertaken in Chisholm’s state of the art Sterilisation lab.

Work placement is undertaken over two weeks, in hospital serialisation units across Melbourne major hospitals.

This nationally recognised qualification may lead to employment as an instrument technician, sterilisation technician or sterilisation assistant.
