  Course structure

  To complete the Bachelor of Business students must have already completed a diploma and then must complete the 16 subjects in Business. A full time student will enrol in 4 units per semester and this will take two years.

  
  Indicative workload

  Weekly workload per semester for 4 subjects: 12 hours face-to-face plus 24 hours personal study time. Two days per week at our Dandenong Campus and online.

  This subject introduces students to the key concepts of accounting information used by managers to make decisions for businesses. Tools and techniques used to focus on accounting information rather than recording of transactions enable students to interpret reports and communicate reports to interested stakeholders.

  Business Marketing provides the fundamental principles of marketing strategy by exploring how organisations adapt marketing activities in response to organisational, societal and individual needs and wants. The impact of societal and cultural elements on both people and marketing practices is also explored.

  Business Economics introduces fundamental economic concepts and principles. Students will acquire these concepts for application both at work and everyday life. Including the behaviour of firms and consumers, this subject begins with an introduction to the tools of economic analysis, price formation, basic models of market structure and their efficacy. This subject also covers inflation, unemployment and monetary policy and an appreciation of micro and macro concepts will allow students to follow current business environment issues to participate in the formulation of business strategies.

  This subject introduces the student to the principles of financial management from a corporate perspective. The approach is to present and examine the theory and practice of investment and financing decision-making. The application of a range of analytical techniques appropriate to contemporary financial decision-making is used to evaluate business options.

  Business Law provides students with an introduction to core principles of contract and consumer protection law, the law of negligence, and property law. Students gain exposure to ethical standards that apply to business activities such as contractual relationships and special legal protections against unethical practices. In promoting an understanding of the dynamic nature of law and basic legal problem solving, a skills-based approach is utilised to prepare students for more advanced law subjects and future careers.

  Project 1 introduces students to project management principles in order to understand the integral role of a project manager and the project team throughout the lifecycle of a project. Students will develop skills that will enable them to understand the key activities required to initiate and plan a project, and to understand the application of various project management methodologies. The subject focuses on the initiation and planning stages of a project and the tools and techniques required for successful delivery.

  This subject covers issues that managers face in the globalised world. By understanding the need to develop skills in cross- cultural communication, team work globally, and conflict resolution, students explore informed strategic decision-making processes, ethical issues and corporate social responsibility in a global context.

  This subject covers methods that will reduce risk using both qualitative and quantitative approaches within a conceptual framework. Decision-maker bias and heuristics are examined and students apply real world problems using risk management tools within a risk manager context.

  Project 2 extends on the principles in Project 1 to introduce students to the challenges in executing projects and the tools and skills required to support project managers in making key decisions throughout the project lifecycle. Students will develop skills that will enable them to understand the key activities required throughout the execution and finalisation stages of a project. The subject focuses on the skills required by a Project Manager to monitor and control the project, manage key stakeholders and incorporate continuous improvement.

• Fees

  Indicative total course cost $41,200. Total course cost is indicative based upon the 2024 tuition fee. Any increase in fees for subsequent years is not included in this value. Indicative annual tuition fees of $20,600. Indicative fees are based upon a student enrolling in 100% full time study load and does not reflect if subjects are repeated or advanced standing is granted. Student Services fee of $270 is being waived for 2024 enrolments.
