Strengthen your English language skills and communicate confidently with our ELICOS courses

At Chisholm we understand you may want to improve your English for a variety of reasons. Our interactive classes ensure that you quickly develop the skills and confidence necessary for communication for life and travel, professional communication and study at vocational or university levels.

The Chisholm International English Language Centre provides ELICOS English language courses to help you:
• improve your English language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing
• develop an accurate understanding and use of grammar
• build your independent study skills in preparation for further study or employment
• gain knowledge of Australian culture, the education system and workplaces

Chisholm offers the following courses:

English for new learners:
• General English – Elementary (065750B)
• General English - Pre-Intermediate (051916M) and
• General English – Intermediate (051915A)

English for study and work:
• General English - Upper Intermediate (051914B)
• General English - Advanced (051917K) and
• General English - Pre-intermediate to Advanced (053977D).

ELICOS remote delivery

Commence your ELICOS course from your home country.

The course is online for four hours a day Monday to Friday, which is 20 hours a week full time.

You will attend virtual classes (via Zoom) with your teacher available throughout the four-hour session.

Similar to a face-to-face classes, the four-hour session will include some group activities, some pair work and some individual activity each day.

Classes are interactive with students expected to participate throughout the class.

Can I pass my course?
Yes if you enrol and participate in all timetabled sessions and complete all tasks and assessments set by your teacher by the due date.

Can I study if I don’t have a computer at home?
It would be difficult for you to complete work if you don’t have access to a computer. If this is the case we don’t recommend you enrol if this is the case.

What do I do if I don’t know how to use the technology?
At enrolment we will help you to learn how to use all the technology you will need, including Zoom, Moodle and other technology platforms. For more information or to apply, please contact:

Chisholm courses are subject to minimum and maximum group numbers. Courses may be cancelled or postponed if minimum numbers are not achieved by the start date of the course. Courses may close prior to the start date if the maximum numbers are reached. In that situation, eligible applicants will be offered a place in the next available intake.
