How to apply

If you are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen you can apply for a course at Chisholm directly through the website.

Chisholm takes applications for Higher Education courses all year round, so you can apply at any time for a February or July start. Your application will be assessed against the entry requirements for the course. Please refer to QMS142_01 Course Entry Requirements (Higher Education).

By following the links below, you will be directed to an application form for the course that you are interested in studying. Filling out this form is the first step in applying to study this course at Chisholm. International students can apply here.  

There is no application fee to apply directly to Chisholm Higher Education. Provided you have submitted all relevant information, the assessment generally takes up to 10 working days to process. However, if you are applying for Advanced Standing, applications may take a little longer, refer to QMS138 Advanced Standing (Higher Education). Following submission of your application, you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of application via email. Once your application has been assessed, you will be notified of the outcome by email.

How to apply for Chisholm Higher Education (domestic students)

Prepare your documentation to support your application

Required standard documents for admission:

  • Document Verification Service Authorisation
  • Certified Australian Passport, OR
  • Certified Birth Certificate (no extract) or Citizenship Certificate.
  • Previous Academic Transcripts

Note: some courses may require a police check prior to enrolment, however applicants will be advised during the suitability interview.

Students can provide the below as evidence:

  • Australian Birth Certificate (not an extract)
  • Australian Citizenship Certificate (both sides)
  • Australian Certificate of Registration by Descent
  • Current Australian or New Zealand Passport
  • Formal documentation issued by the Department of Home Affairs confirming permanent residence AND your foreign passport or ImmiCard
  • Foreign passport (or ImmiCard where issued) with one of the following:
    • A current Bridging Visa Class E
    • Safe Haven Enterprise Visa, or
    • Temporary Protection Visa.

Step one - Complete the online application form 

Click on "Apply Now" on your chosen course page and fill in the mandatory fields on the course application form. Once you submit this form, you will receive an email and SMS with a link and login to the second part of the application process, where you will need to fill in more details about your personal circumstances and education history. Once you have completed this online form a Chisholm Administration Officer will contact you to discuss your application and the entry requirements for the course and answer any questions that you may have. 

Step two – Interview (not applicable to all courses) 

After you have submitted your online application, some courses also require you to attend an interview via phone or in person with the course coordinator. Further information on this is available via the specific course page and entry requirements document. A Higher Education Administrator will also advise if you require an interview.  

Step three - Course offer 

Once your application has been assessed, you will be contacted by a Student Enquiry and Enrolment Officer. If successful you will receive a Statement of Fees and Invoice, if unsuccessful, the Chisholm Student Enquiry and Enrolment Officer may be able to provide you with further guidance or alternative course options. 

Step four – Payment 

To accept your enrolment applicants will need to pay the amount outlined on their invoice, this amount is made up of one semesters fees’, and for some courses a materials fee. Please refer to the fees and costs page for further information refer to Fees and costs for higher education.

Students have three options when it comes to payment of their course.  

  1. FEE-HELP  

To be eligible for a FEE-HELP loan for a unit(s) of study you must be:  

  • An Australian citizen; or  
  • The holder of a permanent humanitarian visa who will be a resident in Australia for the duration of study; or 
  • The holder of a permanent visa who is undertaking bridging study for overseas-trained professionals and will be a resident in Australia for the duration of study; or 
  • New Zealand Special Category Visa (NZ SCV) holder who meets the specific NZ Special Category Visa residency requirements for HELP loans, and must be resident in Australia for the duration of the units of study

Step five – Orientation and enrolment  

Once payment has been received, a Higher Education College Administration Officer and/or the Course Coordinator will be in touch to advise you of when your Orientation sessions will be held.  

Students will need to attend two Orientation sessions, one for Chisholm Higher Education College and the other is an information session more specific to your course.  

It is important you attend these Orientation sessions either online or face to face, as you will receive important information about Chisholm and your course. It is also a great opportunity to meet with the Course Coordinator, your lecturers, and your classmates.  

Deferring your studies  

In some circumstances, you can apply to defer your offer to study at Chisholm Higher Education College, these assessments are made on a case by case basis.
