Jackii's roots in barbering

Jackii’s first experience of barbering came from her grandfather, who was a traditional barber. Her style incorporates weaving traditional aspects with modern day edgy tones of today.

Having been successful in the salon, Jackii realised she felt passionate about her industry, to the point that she wanted to teach, share her knowledge and inspire others. After entering competitions, travelling to New York with her work, and working in many salons, she decided to take a leap in a different direction and enhance her experience – as well as others.

“I wasn’t a qualified barber for a long time… about 15 years before I sort of realised that I was good at what I did, and I’ve got a lot to offer including passion. wanted to teach so I went to Chisholm and did my Certificate IV Training and Assessment, and then I did my RPL.”

Seeing the growing trend in barbering, and with the urge to continually improve continually, Jackii decided to seize the opportunity.

“My motivation started when the whole barbering scene became popular. I’ve been motivated and loved my job for many years… You know, every hair cut became the best one I was ever going to do.”

“There’s a lot of trends in men’s barbering at the moment, and the men have become extremely picky with their hair. They like to look good and sharp all the time. They’re becoming even more trendy than girls are now.”

“In my experience becoming a qualified barber opens a lot of different doors so I really encourage all the barbers out there that haven’t got their certificate, if you want to go further in your career and you’ve got that passion come in and do an RPL and take it further.”
