O-FEST 2019

O-FEST is our Orientation Festival where you can get involved in a range of events, workshops and activities and make new friends with your fellow students. Throughout O-FEST you can also find out more about the support services available to help you throughout your studies.

Orientation events

Come along to have a chat with our staff and find out about the various learning and support services available to you, including: career support, Koorie services, personal support, disability support, library and online resources, learning skills, and apprenticeship support.

You can also enjoy a free lunch and fun games and activities.

Workshops

During orientation events there will be a series of workshops running to help you get set for study success. These include:

Career Education – an overview of career support at Chisholm. Find out how the Careers team can support you through one-on-one career counselling, workshops, job applications and more. Here you’ll learn how to access these services, including the three-step career development program.

Study Skills – the Learning Skills team run a Help Desk in some campus libraries to support you with everything from writing an essay to preparing for an exam. Come along to this workshop to learn some effective study skills to help you throughout your course.

Mind Full, or Mindful? – an introduction to mental health awareness and some helpful tips on how to prevent anxiety during times of stress.

Love the Game – an exploration into the influences that shape youth gambling attitudes and behaviours through sports betting advertising and games that look like gambling, and information on support services available when this can become a problem.

Money Matters – an introduction to financial planning, this workshop will take you through tips on how to budget effectively, strategies on how to avoid debt traps, and provide you with some helpful resources.

Engagement activities

Throughout O-FEST, engagement activities will be running at Berwick, Dandenong and Frankston campuses. These will give you the opportunity to get to know and make friends with your fellow students through a range of exciting games and activities.

Movie nights

The engagement activities will be followed by a movie night at Berwick, Dandenong and Frankston.
