Australia's health care and social assistance industry employs 13 per cent of the nation's total workforce.

And over the past five years, employment in the health industry has increased 19 per cent, with the median age of workers 43 years and median pre-tax weekly earnings aound $1,150 for full-time employees.

The top five occupations in this industry include registered nurses, aged and disabled carers and nursing support and personal care workers.

At Chisholm, we offer a wide range of course, providing career pathways in the health industry. These include nursing, aged care, allied health and many more, and are available to both local and international students.

Our facilities include simulated hospital environments at both our Frankston and Berwick campuses, in the Melbourne's south east.  This means our nursing students are taught in situations as life-like as possible, preparing them for the real experience of working in the health sector.

This process of helping to manage the transition of students from the classroom to the workplace is part of our commitment to provide organisations in the health sector with employees who are work ready.

Our specialist teaching spaces replicate a range of health care environments, from home and allied health, to complex emergency and critical care contexts.

Specialist hospital environments include mannequins that react, talk and provide pathophysiological responses, such as blood pressure, pulse and respirations. The mannequins can be programmed into different states of health and enable students to practise their skills in highly realistic situations.

Each of the simulated hospital environments consist of hospital beds with a central nursing station. Each bed space is fitted with powerpoint, suction and simulated oxygen (air). They also feature utility and storage rooms for students to gather equipment, along with working bathrooms. There are also audiovisual systems that enable teachers to record activities or display images on LCD screens to playback for further discussion and reflection.  To achieve this level of realism, Chisholm works in partnership with Laerdal who provide support with the technology.
