Chisholm and Advanced International Joint Stock Company Viet Nam (AIC) are working collaboratively with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) within the Viet Nam Ministry of Labour, Invalides and Social Affairs to assist in making rapid change to the Viet Nam vocational training system to effectively service the consistently strong economic growth of the country.

Following extensive review across the globe, the Government of Viet Nam selected the Australian vocational education system to support this significant undertaking.

The project commenced in 2014 and has involved to date: teacher training in Australia for over 330 Vietnamese vocational teachers; development of 12 qualification packages aligned to Viet Nam industry needs; and management of a trial implementation of these packages in 25 vocational colleges from across Viet Nam.

Comprehensive industry skills standards and full qualification packages have been developed for 12 trades being restaurant management, resort management, travel management, tour guide, biotechnology, mechatronics, industrial electronics, graphic design, information technology software applications, techniques for electricity installation and control in industry, computer network management, refrigeration and air conditioning engineering.

These packages consist of:

  • qualifications aligned to Australian Packages
  • lists of teaching and learning resources
  • assessment tools
  • equipment lists
  • delivery schedules.

Teacher training consisted of four to five months in Australia in 2014 and 2017 studying the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and the Australian qualifications they were to teach in Viet Nam.

The trial implementation commenced in February 2018 in twenty five (25) Vietnamese vocational colleges. The first intake has over 760 students enrolled in their respective colleges and at Chisholm.

Students will improve their English and gain the Vietnamese and Australian qualification upon demonstration of competence.
