Re-skill and find work in the construction industry

When you complete the accredited traffic management skill set, you will have the confidence and ability to implement traffic management plans and to control vehicle and pedestrian traffic using stop-slow bats, hand signals and approved communication devices. This course is available to people who wish to transition into the construction industry or those already in the industry who are seeking to re-skill.

After completion of the training, participants will be able to:

• implement traffic management plans
• control vehicle and pedestrian traffic using stop-slow bats, hand signals and approved communication devices

Participants will learn a range of skills, including:

• selecting and wearing personal protective equipment
• directing traffic using hand held stop-slow bat
• monitoring traffic, making adjustments for changing traffic conditions and positioning waiting vehicles as required
• communicating messages to other personnel
• confirming and removing signs and devices in line with job requirements
• setting out, monitoring and closing down traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes
• reporting environmental damage and potential for future damage

After successfully completing this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally accredited units:

• RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plan
• RIIWHS205E Control traffic with stop-slow bat
