With the Disability Royal Commission completing their Report this is a very timely course for people with disabilities, carers and the NDIS workforce.

To enrol in this course you will need to be working in the sector.

The course is currently structured with an orientation session and a face to face OR ZOOM session for five hours. The remainder of the course is undertaken in your workplace using the e-learning resources provided.

Abuse of people with disabilities takes many forms (physical, sexual, emotional, financial, exploitation and neglect) and can occur in a range of different settings, from residential accommodation, to day programs, to the individual’s home.

The disability workforce is key to preventing and responding appropriately to abuse. The 22530VIC Course in Identifying, Reporting and Preventing Abuse and/or Grooming of People with Disabilities has been designed to address the recognition, prevention and reporting of abuse. This course includes content in relation to understanding the human rights of people with disability, and empowering people with disability to assert their rights and self-advocate.

The target audience for this course are those who work with people with disabilities, including psychosocial disability, and have a responsibility to identify and report abuse.

This course is appropriate for delivery to both the current workforce and to students enrolled in relevant VET qualifications (e.g. Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, Allied Health Assistance, etc).

All training is delivered by experienced and qualified trainers who are passionate about the industry.

Working in the disability sector has never been so important. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has changed the way people with disabilities are supported. This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to apply a human rights based approach to all aspects of work, including identifying indicators and signs of abuse and/or grooming.

Participants will also be able to contribute to increasing the protective factors of the service user and their family, as well as empower the service user and their family to disclose and report abuse. Other skills covered are to identify immediate risks and respond to disclosed, identified or suspected abuse. This course is targeted to those who work with people with disabilities, including psychosocial disability, and have a responsibility to identify and report abuse.

The course is self-paced using our online learning platform and will take you up to six weeks to complete whilst you continue to work in the sector.
