​Designed for people who work, or plan to work with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We explore the history of autism spectrum disorder, key issues, values, philosophies and legal requirements of the sector and focus on the principles of best practice.

Topics covered include: autism overview, sensory processing, resources of communication, cognitive and communication, behaviour and living with autism.

This is an accredited unit of competency that counts as an elective in any of the community services courses. On successful completion of the course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit: CHCCCS024 Support individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
