This course will teach you the skills and knowledge required to provide or assist a patient with their oral hygiene where the patient is unable to perform all or part of these tasks by themselves. The oral hygiene tasks for the patient are carried out within the framework of an individualised care support plan and within the workers designated role and responsibilities.
This course is aimed at workers who provide direct patient care in a range of health and community service environments and are currently employed in the health care sector.
The topic’s covered: identify patients oral hygiene requirement’s to ensure good oral health, assist and support patients in an appropriate manner, assist and support patients in their identified oral hygiene needs, recognise and report changes in patient oral hygiene.
On successful completion of this course students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally accredited unit of competency: HLTOHC004 Provide or assist with oral hygiene.
