If you’re a food business owner in Victoria, you must ensure your staff have the skills and knowledge to handle food safely. If your business is classified as Class 1 and Class 2, you must have a Food Safety Supervisor who is responsible for supervising all aspects of safely handling food. This course provides supervisors with the skills and knowledge to confidently manage food safety in the workplace.
Assessment will be conducted as part of class activities with additional tasks to be completed at home.
On successful completion of this nationally accredited course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment. The unit/s of competency covered will depend on your industry area:
• SITXFSA201 Participate in safe food handling practices
Food Processing Industry
• FDFFS2001A Implement the food safety program and procedures
• SIRRFSA001A Apply retail food safety practices.
• HLTFS309C Oversee the day-to-day implementation of food safety in the workplace
• HLTFS310C Apply and monitor food safety requirements
For people working in the health sector (including child care, aged care, hospitals and other high risk businesses), additional assignment work is required. A workplace assessment will also be conducted, which takes an hour at the student’s workplace after classroom training is completed. This is an additional cost of $170.
You need: completion of the Safe Food Handling course or equivalent ( the only exception to this is for the Retail Industry).
Bring your own lunch for day classes.
Participants must have a USI on the day of the course to be awarded the Qualification, USI’s can be obtained by going to https://www.usi.gov.au/
