Become an early childhood professional

Follow your dream and study to become an early childhood educator, centre director, kindergarten educator, family day carer or nanny.

Flexible study options available to suit everyone. You can choose to study full time on campus, part time through OnlinePlus or via a workshop model online. This delivery mode is designed specifically to suit students working in the industry who want to upgrade their qualifications.

When you successfully complete the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care with Chisholm, you will have achieved two nationally recognised qualifications highly regarded by employers in this sector. You will be able to work at a senior level in a variety of children's services, including designing and developing curriculum and supervision of staff.

To undertake this course, you need to hold either the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification. If you have not successfully completed either of these courses, please enrol first into the CHC30121 qualification on our website. The Certificate III is now a pre requisite for the Diploma qualification and allows you to complete two qualifications.

After successful completion of our CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, Chisholm students can pathway to a number of different universities where they may receive direct credit into a Bachelor of Education Primary &/or Early Childhood degree.

This course requires mandatory practical placement in an approved early childhood setting (minimum 280 hours). The course is based on the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework and has an emphasis on play-based learning.

This course offers flexible study options. You can choose to study full time on campus, part time through OnlinePlus delivery or via an OnlinePlus workshop model. The workshop model delivery is designed to suit students working in the industry who want to upgrade their qualifications

TIMETABLE:

FULL TIME
Berwick, Dandenong, Frankston, Bass Coast, Mornington Peninsula: Two days per week 9.00am – 2.00pm, plus a minimum of 280 hours in industry placement blocks.

PART TIME
OnlinePlus via Zoom: Two evenings per week, plus a minimum 280 hours industry work placement.

Workshop – OnlinePlus / Dandenong: one full day workshop per fortnight on campus and one evening workshop online via Zoom per alternate fortnight, plus a minimum 280 hours work placement. Applicants must be currently employed and working in the early childhood industry.
