Learn a full range of skills to assist people with drug and alcohol problems

Are you looking to expand your career opportunities in the Alcohol and Other Drugs Industry? The Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs will give you the skills and knowledge to provide counselling, referral and promotion services to clients.
You will learn about how clients are affected by alcohol and other drugs, the range of services available to them and health issues related to alcohol and drugs use and misuse. This qualification could lead to employment as a social welfare worker, or drug and alcohol clinician.

You will be required to complete a total of 400 hours of industry placement over the course of your studies. If you have already completed some work placement while studying the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or are already working in the industry, you may be eligible for some credit hours or to complete your placement assessment in your workplace.

To complete this qualification you will be required to undertake the following unit of competency HLTAID003 Provide First Aid. This unit is not available online, however Chisholm does offer the unit on campus. Please send a copy of your transcript if you have already successfully completed this unit previously.

Students are required to produce a valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory police check prior to commencement of the course

Full Time - 18 months (2 modules per study period). Part Time - 3 years (1 module per study period). Note: modules 8,9 and 10 need to be completed together in one study period.

Chisholm courses are subject to minimum and maximum group numbers. Courses may be cancelled or postponed if minimum numbers are not achieved by the start date of the course. Courses may close prior to the start date if the maximum numbers are reached. In that situation, eligible applicants will be offered a place in the next available intake.
