Recognise and extend your engineering skills

2021 Tuition, materials and student services fees will be advised in October 2020. Please use 2020 fees as an indicative guide only, which are subject to change.

This Free Tafe course, Certificate IV in Engineering, consist of 1360 hours of nominal training which has specialised electives to suit the modern industry requirements.

This qualification would ideally suit someone already working in the industry and wanting additional skills and knowledge or someone that is interested in pursuing a career in engineering.

When you complete the Certificate IV in Engineering, you’ll have the specialist skills required to build a career in the manufacturing and engineering industries.

Learners can undertake the following elective streams:

• Mechanical/Welding for students interested in maintenance roles within manufacturing and construction industries.
• Mechanical/Mechatronic/Welding for students interested in manufacturing environments and using current technology (industry 4.0) to produce engineering products to high quality standards.
• Mechanical/Welding for students interested in working to high welding standards to work in welding environments such as onsite welding, construction, maintenance, oil and gas.
• Mechanical/CNC/CAD for students interested working in manufacturing environments that involve computer design, CNC machining, precision machining and toolmaking.


Please note that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, to continue your learning journey, this program will be delivered remotely where possible.

Participants will be required to engage with learning material online and via video conferencing software rather than attend classes. Refer to our COVID-19 Online Service Standards for details of minimum technical requirements and support available. While it is expected that the course duration will remain unchanged, it may be necessary to extend the completion date if circumstances change. Chisholm will be monitoring the situation closely and inform of any changes if the duration of a course is extended.
