This is an accredited apprenticeship course, which involves a competency-based assessment program that can be undertaken in the workplace, at Chisholm, or a combination of both.
When you complete this course, you’ll be able to service, diagnose and repair a range of marine systems and equipment with confidence.
During the course, you'll learn about workplace safety and equipment, and also work on the electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and fuel system components applicable to both inboard and outboard marine installations.
Experienced teachers, who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program, which involves a combination of practical study and theory that is assessed at the end of each unit of competency.
This nationally recognized qualification may lead to employment as a marine mechanic. The course can be completed part time over three years, in conjunction with on the job training. A training plan can be negotiated with employers to suit their requirements.
