If you work in the light vehicle mechanical technology industry and want to gain a formal qualification in the field, this course is for you.

Get the skills you need to land an automotive job that’s in demand! Gain hands-on experience and technical skills to service and repair the mechanical parts of motor vehicles, dismantle, repair and reassemble vehicle components to manufacturer specifications, and diagnose, evaluate, design and modify vehicle systems.

When you successfully complete this course, you’ll have the confidence to work on a broad range of light vehicle components and systems.

During the course, you'll learn about workplace safety and equipment and gain hands on experience servicing everything from batteries, transmissions and engines to petrol fuel, air conditioning and braking systems.

Career opportunities include automotive light vehicle mechanical repair technician.

Regional Pathway Program

Chisholm Institute and SuniTAFE have a new study pathway program on offer where students can commence their studies in Melbourne at Chisholm Institute and continue onto higher studies in the regional town of Mildura at SuniTAFE.

Once you complete your Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology with Chisholm, you can continue on to study a Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis and Diploma of Automotive Technology at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE in Mildura.

Students applying for the Regional Pathway Program will receive additional incentives including:

  • Regional placement to support students on arrival with a key focus on assisting them to locate suitable employment and settling in Mildura
  • AU$1,000 relocation allowance/scholarship per student
  • One way airfare from Melbourne to Mildura
  • Two weeks at SuniTAFE college accommodation on arrival.
