During the course, you'll learn about the construction of stairs, wall frames, eaves, pitched roofs and ceiling frames; measurements and calculations; excavation; scaffolding and working safely at heights; setting out; safe handling of carpentry tools and materials; levelling; concreting formwork; excavation; demolition; installation of flooring systems; workplace safety; and interpretation of plans and specifications.
Experienced teachers, who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program, which is mostly project based.
This nationally recognised qualification may lead to employment as a stair builder. The course can be completed full time over three years.
Once complete, you can extend your skills by studying Chisholm’s Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building).
