Chisholm student, Danielle Kazi-Shedden has just won the Community Choice Award at the 2016 Victorian Training Awards.

The Victorian Training Awards are a great way to gain recognition for the hard work and achievements made within the vocational education and training sector.

The awards were presented on Friday 26 August at Crown Palladium.

For Danielle, who is currently completing a Certificate III in Shopfitting at Chisholm, it’s a great opportunity to be recognised as the best in her field and further her career.
‘Shopfitting is perfect for me. It’s a trade that combines a lot of trades into one. There’s just so much I can do with it. I get to do a bit of everything – carpentry, joinery, metals, electrical,’ said Danielle, 23, from Cranbourne.
‘My employer, Whytehall Shopfitters, gave me a go because I knew about tools and had some basic skills. I also have a good work ethic.’

Danielle was also a finalist for Apprentice of the Year after a successful year that saw her named Master Builder Association of Victoria’s (MBAV) and Chisholm’s Apprentice of the Year as well as the recipient of the prestigious CEO Award at the 2016 Chisholm Education Awards.

‘Danielle is always giving back and sharing her knowledge with students. On behalf of Chisholm she visits secondary schools, talking to female students considering a trade career. She’s a dynamic speaker and an inspiration to young women’ said Ian Malcolm, Senior Educator in construction and building at Chisholm.

‘My studies at Chisholm have shown me the value of the training system and how it adds to what people learn on the job. Most importantly, Chisholm has shown me a pathway to my career goals, and that is a big benefit,’ said Danielle.

‘Danielle is not only an outstanding student, but an inspiring young woman and a great ambassador for her profession, and a worthy winner of the Award for 2016,’ said Maria Peters, Chisholm CEO.

‘I hope to inspire people beginning their career or already in industry to pursue their passion like I did. Being able to do what I love for a job means a lot to me. I still wake up every morning and get excited about what I do each day,’ said Danielle.
