Chisholm has commenced a new training and employment partnership with world-leading rail manufacturer Bombardier Transportation.

June 2016

The program will deliver nationally accredited training to over 300 of their trades based employees in Dandenong, with a view to expand statewide.

This exciting partnership will not only support Bombardier’s existing workforce and projects, but further strengthen employee capabilities in the areas of manufacturing, engineering and asset life maintenance by providing ongoing training and further education.

Chisholm will deliver a five year Skills Development Program for new and existing production, services and managerial staff based at Bombardiers manufacturing hub in Dandenong, Victoria. This program will position Chisholm to continue supporting and strengthening Bombardier’s future project and workforce requirements.

“Bombardier is a vital and long-time employer within South East Melbourne. Working with them allows us to deliver on our promise of putting people’s training to work and upskilling their existing and future employees,” said Maria Peters, CEO of Chisholm Institute.

“The partnership has been designed for Bombardier to further develop career pathways for each of their business units, providing every employee a prospect for career progression and long term employment within the engineering, manufacturing and maintenance functions of the business.”

Chisholm will deliver the training on site at Bombardier’s manufacturing facility in order to minimize downtime and disruption to daily operations and maximize effectiveness around existing project timelines.

“We recognized Chisholm’s credentials as one of Australia’s leading vocational education and training providers when selecting a partner”, said Rene Lalande, Managing Director of Bombardier Transportation Australia.

This partnership will position Bombardier well to provide ongoing education and further upskill their 450+ strong workforce in Dandenong and beyond. Bombardier is one of three shortlisted manufacturers in line to deliver 65 new trains as part of the Victorian Government’s High Capacity Metro Train Project to be announced later this year.

Training will commence in August 2016.
