Chisholm named best large training provider in Australia

November 2014

Chisholm Institute can proudly boast the title of Australia’s Large Training Provider of the Year following its win at the 20th annual Australian Training Awards gala ceremony in Adelaide on Friday 21 November, 2014.

Chisholm, Victoria’s most successful vocational education and training provider, was one of three finalists for the award following its win in the category at the Victorian Training Awards in September. The Large Training Provider of the Year award is the pinnacle of the evening which sees the Australian Government recognising top achievers in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

“I’m delighted to accept this award on behalf of the Chisholm Board, staff and students, without whom this achievement would not have been possible,” said Chisholm CEO Maria Peters, pictured right receiving award from Tasmanian Deputy Premier Jeremy Rockliff.

“An organisation success is not possible without its people. I would like to acknowledge and thank the Board of Chisholm. It is under their guidance that Chisholm remains a viable and healthy Institute able to offer the programs that have led to success for the Institute and our students. I would also like to thank our Executive and management team, our leaders, who have worked together to lead Chisholm to strategic growth in a climate of change; and of most importantly our teachers and professional support staff who have engaged with industry to develop more responsive and relevant education programs across VET and higher education and who have worked tirelessly to realise our values and inspire our students.”

Throughout this period of change in the Victorian VET sector, Chisholm has remained committed to its strategic direction and community responsibilities, emerging as one of the top performing TAFEs in Victoria. Chisholm’s strong operational results, clear strategy and commitment to being an institute, workplace and partner of choice were key elements highlighted in the award selection process.

“This award recognises our strategic planning and reflects our commitment to effectively engage with the community and industry and forge enduring partnerships within the southeast and beyond.  It also reflects our reliability, our integrity and strength as a quality education and training provider resulting in great student and client outcomes” continued Peters.

"This Australian Training Awards recognises the VET sector, a sector within education that is not well understood and has a significant impact of the economy and society. Quality vocational education and training, such as that provided by Chisholm, develops practical skills, technical knowledge and offers important pathways to careers needed for the ongoing development of our workforce, growth in industry and the economic sustainability of our communities.”

With 400 nationally recognised courses, Chisholm is constantly reviewing its offerings with respect to employment needs and providing educational products that meet the learning needs of our students and clients. This enabled Chisholm record strong growth in training activity across VET, degree programs and other commercial programs.

Chisholm is embedded in its local communities and will further develop its partnerships, not only within the region, but nationally and globally.
