Limited on-campus training and assessment

We are continuing to work closely with the Department of Education and Training, the State Government, and Health officials. Chisholm has facilitated training and assessment for select students who are required to undertake practical activities and/or assessment to allow them to continue to progress through their training. These are for a small number of courses only and are based on the Government’s permitted industries list.

What are the Term 3 plans for the return to campus?

The Term 3 return to campus planning has been significantly adjusted as we work through the Stage 4 restrictions across Metropolitan Melbourne. The types of training which can be delivered on campus is now minimal. However, where students within permitted industry training require practical activities to progress apprenticeships and placements, we are delivering on one of our four main campuses – Dandenong, Cranbourne, Frankston and Berwick.

Rosebud and Wonthaggi campuses will remain closed for the immediate future. All students who are required on to campus for training will receive an email from their educator with details of the return-to-campus planning.

For more information about Stage 4 restrictions and the courses that we’re able to accommodate on-campus, visit our Coronavirus FAQs.

What information should I have received if I am to return?

For students who are required to return you will receive an email sent to your student email address. It lists your return day and date, time, campus, and timetable information, as well as other details including our preparation in safety and hygiene for your return to campus.

What’s changed on campus?

The campus environment, classrooms and practical areas have changed to manage the social distancing and other health and hygiene requirements, as detailed by the Department of Education and Training and the Chief Health Officer.

Security staff are available on campus to assist you in arriving at your designated class area, advise you of the hand sanitisation points, and remind you of your social distancing requirements.

On campus arrival and classes:

  • Attendance on-campus is restricted to the building and your designated classroom and training areas.
  • Entry and exit points will be clearly identified and signposted.
  • Security teams will be on-site to ensure social distancing measures are observed.
  • You will be required to maintain a 1.5 metre distance between yourself, your peers, and educators at all times and you’re encouraged to advise your educator, if for any reason, this is not being maintained.
  • Hand sanitiser and antiseptic wipes will be available throughout the spaces. Please remember to use sanitiser regularly and maintain clean hands through regular washing in the bathroom and wash facilities in your building. You will also be required to wipe down any equipment or machinery used.
  • You will be required to wear a mask to and from campus, and while you’re in the classroom or training environment.
  • You will be required to leave the campus as soon as your activities are completed.
  • Please bring your own food and drink if required, as our on-campus café is closed.

It is important that you arrive on time to ensure effective and sufficient learning and assessment is undertaken.

In the workshop or practical areas:

  • Class sizes have been significantly reduced to manage social distancing and effective learning.
  • Your educator will brief you on hygiene requirements prior to the commencement of each lesson.
  • If you have any concerns while on campus, please raise these immediately with your educator.
