Applications are now open for the Victorian Government’s $45 million International Student Emergency Relief Fund.

The fund supports international students in Victoria who are facing financial hardship through lost wages and work as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The fund is being delivered in partnership with Victoria’s tertiary education providers.

The Victorian Government is committed to supporting our international student community during this difficult time. You are not alone. We will get through this together. The International Student Emergency Relief Fund complements the range of relief programs offered by the Victorian Government and Victoria’s universities and education providers.

Eligibility application

Who is eligible for the International Student Emergency Relief Fund?

To be eligible to apply to the International Student Emergency Relief Fund you must meet all the following eligibility criteria:

  1. You are an international student enrolled in a public university or TAFE in Victoria, and you were enrolled at 31 March 2020.
  2. You are an international student who has a student visa or Bridging Visa (with a student Visa application under process)
  3. You are an international student who currently resides in Victoria, Australia and is presently physically located in Victoria.
  4. You were employed in Victoria anytime from March to July 2020, and have experienced exceptional circumstances of financial hardship due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and those circumstances of hardship arise from:
    • a significant reduction in hours of employment OR
    • loss of employment due to a business shutdown AND
    • you are unable to supplement lost income from other sources of financial support.

    Application process for Chisholm students

    The International Student team will talk you through the eligibility and application process to ensure the process is as streamlined as possible. You can also email on and a team member will call you back as soon as possible.

    Application forms will then be sent to eligible students to complete. Students will need to complete the form and attach relevant evidence before returning them to Chisholm.

    Completed forms are to be returned to for processing. Once processed, you will receive a notification via email if you have been deemed eligible to receive the ISERF grant or not. Payments for eligible students will then be processed as soon as possible.
